Hey, the site is called UFC Predictions, right? So I'm gonna pull a bunch of predictions in and see how that goes. Don't worry Joanne, you'll always be our favourite UFC Predict-chick.
All of Joannes' predictions make perfect sense, but this time around I have a feeling that Mark Coleman is going to take Shogun down and put that hammer fist right through him. I take Coleman by ground and pound TKO in the first 2 minutes.
The Ultimate Fighter Finale is this Saturday (June 21, 2008). This is of course for TUF season 7. Here are some predictions.
Evan Tanner Vs. Kendall Grove
This is truly a tough one to pick, do you take Tanner for his proven toughness and past success or do you take Grove for his potential and recent competition. I don't want to count Tanner out, but Grove is very difficult to deal with (at 6'6"). Prediction : Kendall Grove
Amir Sadollah Vs. CB Dollaway
The title of TUF 7 winner will go to either Amir or CB. Given that Amir won their previous matchup you have to give him a slight nod in the rematch, however until the 3rd round submission in their first bout I had CB slightly ahead on points. I have noticed through a couple of TUF fights that CB seems to either loose his balance easily or get caught with shots and go down easily. He also recovers very quickly, so perhaps they are just slips. Prediction : Amir Sadollah
Diego Sanchez Vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Until he lost to Josh Koscheck everyone was thinking that Diego might just be the future at 170, however two losses in a row have put him back a few steps. Still, I expect to see the old Diego in this fight. Prediction : Diego Sanchez
Spencer Fisher Vs. Jeremy Stephens
Spencer Fisher, nuff said.
Prediction : Spencer Fisher
Here's the results of last nights "Ultimate Fighter" (which I didn't get to watch myself)
Matt vs Jeremy
Herb Dean starts the action, and Jeremy comes out with some sloppy striking and then is floored with a counter punch -- more from a lack of balance than the power of the shot. Matt then hops into sidemount and easily transitions into full mount. Jeremy, though, ties him up and nearly escapes, and Matt secures an arm bar during the process. However, Jeremy slams his way out of it and then goes on the offensive while Matt's on his back. Jeremy stands over his downed opponent, and the fighters exchange positions in a fairly sloppy exchange of ground work and stand-up. Matt, though, eventually takes top position and lands some punches, but Jeremy works back to his feet. Jeremy looks a little gassed, and Matt starts to connect on knees and punches. The strikes force Jeremy to retreat to the mat, where he eats some additional shots. Jeremy, obviously dazed, tries to get back to his feet, and Matt simply waits and then tags him with knee and then a well-placed kick to the face. The shot sends Jeremy to the mat and forces the knockout stoppage.
Dan vs Luke
Steve Mazzagatti starts the action, and Dan immediatelty springs to action with punches and elbow strikes. Luke tries to secure the clinch but instead lands some punches. Dan, though, pins his opponent against the fence and works knees to the legs and body. After a break, Luke lands a stiff right, but Dan closes the distance and scores the trip takedown. Neither guy takes the dominant position, and they're soon back on their feet for a frantic exchange of punches. Dan gets the better of it, but Luke clinches and throws him to the mat. However, Dan pops right back up and lands a solid right hook and follows with three more form the clinch that land flushly. Luke counters with two of his own but is dazed when Dan immediately answers with a vicious combination. The fighters continue to trade shots, but Luke's taking the worst of it. Dan lands a few more rights, but Luke counters with a combination. Just when it looks like Luke might be finished, he scores the trip takedown, briefly has the mount, and then takes Dan's back and sinks in the rear-naked choke. Unable to secure it, Luke delivers a few punches before the round ends. What an action-packed five minutes. It's close, but Dan likely did enough damage in the middle of the round to take it, 10-9. However, a 10-10 round wouldn't be out of the question.
Once again I give you the MMA girls UFC predictions in place of my own. Why? Because Google has decided to shun this site for the last 6 months...so, I get maybe 10 people a day coming here and it's not really worth having a public opinion if nobody reads it. Anyway, for those who do show up here, Jo is always entertaining and despite some of the sillyness, she knows her predictions pretty well. Enjoy!
