UFC Fight Night Fight Card
The next UFC Fight Night Live is on September 19th, 2007. This is immediately preceding the season premeire of the Ultimate Fighter "Team Hughes vs Team Serra". Note, this is on Spike TV.
Here is the UFC Fight Night Fight Card Kenny Florian vs Din Thomas Chris Leben vs Terry Martin Dustin Hazleett vs Jonathon Goulet Junior Assuncao vs Nate Diaz Joe Veres vs Gray Maynard Edilberto Crocota vs Luke Cummo Leonard Garcia vs Cole Miller Kuniyoshi Hironaka vs Thiago Alves Pete Sell vs Nate Quarry Check in again here soon and we'll have our UFC Fight Night Predictions. There are some good matchups on this card. I expect the Kenny Florian vs Din Thomas match to decide a future lightweight title contender (especially with two of the divisions top two fighters dealing with Steroid issues). Leben vs Martin is Leben's way out of the basement and Martin's way up the ladder...I could go on and on, but I'll wait for the actual ufc fight night predictions post. Friday, July 27. 2007

UFC 74 Predictions
Before I start into my UFC 74 predictions lets look at the UFC 74 Fight Card:
Randy Couture vs Gabriel Gonzaga (for the UFC heavyweight title) Georges St Pierre vs Josh Koscheck (for a title shot at welterweight) Roger Heurta vs Alberto Crane Kurt Pellegrino vs Joe Stevenson Patrick Cote vs Kendall Grove Ryan Jensen vs Travis Lutter Renalto Sobral vs David Heath Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk Clay Guida vs Marcus Aurelio A strong card featuring at least 4 good fights. I'm going to keep my UFC 74 predictions short and sweet for now. Visit back soon and I will fill in my reasoning for each fight in more detail as the UFC 74 event (August 25th) draws closer. Randy Couture vs Gabriel Gonzaga If Gabriel Gonzaga doesn't put Randy on his back early then I expect Randy Couture to grind out a victory in this one. This is solely based on his experience and wrestling. UFC 74 Prediction : Randy Couture by decision Georges St Pierre vs Josh Koscheck Kos isn't ready. Josh Koscheck is young and will someday dominate the 170lb division, but not yet. GSP will win with superior striking and submission skills. UFC 74 Prediction : Georges St Pierre Roger Heurta vs Alberto Crane UFC 74 Prediction : Roger Heurta Kurt Pellegrino vs Joe Stevenson Joe Stevenson was stellar against Melvin Guillard. I expect him to be just as dominant in this fight, but this fight will not end in the first round. UFC 74 Prediction : Joe Stevenson (I also expect Stevenson to meet BJ Penn for some sort of interm title..but that's stricly my opinion). Patrick Cote vs Kendall Grove Patrick Cote is the best of the TKO organization, but he's probably not top 10 or even top 15 in the UFC. UFC 74 Precition : Kendall Grove Ryan Jensen vs Travis Lutter Fight cancelled due to injury to Lutter. Renalto Sobral vs David Heath Renalto is a very accomplished fighter, he just hasn't shown it recently. I expect him to return to form in this match, if not, I don't know if we'll see Babalu in the octagon again. UFC 74 Prediction : Renalto Sobral Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk UFC 74 Prediction : Frank Mir...welcome to the ground game Mr Hardonk. Clay Guida vs Marcus Aurelio If any fighter is due for a decision to go his way it's Clay Guida. He's been on the wrong end of too many close decisions. If Aurelio doesn't submit Guida early I expect Guida's conditioning to be the difference. UFC 74 Prediction : Clay Guida Thursday, July 26. 2007

UFC 76 Fight Card Info and of course Predictions
Two big fights have been officially announced by UFC.com, both fights will have a major impact on future title prospects in the UFC light heavyweight division:
Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine and Shogun Rua vs Forrest Griffin First, let's talk about Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine The UFC isn't giving either Chuck Liddell or Keith Jardine an easy road back to the top. With both fighters coming off losses this will be a good test. Jardine has looked impressive (except for his last fight) and so has Liddell (except for his last fight). UFC 76 Prediction : Chuck Liddell's superior striking and experience will pay off in a TKO performance. And now, for the moment that a lot of Pride fans have been waiting for, it's Shogun Rua vs Forrest Griffin. While I'm a little surprised at this matchup, you've gotta give the UFC matchmakers credit. This is a great fight and a tough one for both guys. Most people will say that Shogun will just run right over Griffin...and they might be right. However, lets keep in mind that stomps and soccer kicks to downed opponents are not allowed in the UFC and all the Chute box guys use those moves liberally. Still, given his record and level of competition you have to give the edge here to Shogun. UFC 76 Prediction : Mauricio "Shogun" Rua Wednesday, July 18. 2007UFC 74 Fight Card
Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk has been added to UFC 74 - Respect!
This is the same card which is featuring Georges St Pierre vs Josh Koscheck and of course Randy Couture vs Gabriel Gonzaga. I think that Mir has a good chance against Hardonk, but not standing. Mir needs to take this fight to the ground at the first opportunity and keep it there. Monday, July 9. 2007UFC 74 Fight Card
Here is the official UFC 74 fight card. Expect this card to be updated as more fights are officially announced.
Randy Couture vs Gabriel Gonzaga is for the heavyweight title. Couture won the belt by defeating Tim Sylvia in a 5 round decision, while Gabriel Gonzaga KO'd Mirko Cro Cop near the end of the first round of their bout. Josh Koshcheck vs Georges St Pierre is a title eliminator, in other words the guy who wins this fight will fight the eventual winner of Matt Serra and Matt Hughes. Serra is the current welterweight champion, he won the belt with a first round TKO victory of Georges St Pierre. St Pierre was heavily favoured in that match. If Joe "Big Daddy" Stevenson wins his bout with Kurt Pellegrino you can expect some title shot talk afterwards, but he'll have to wait until BJ Penn vs Sean Sherk is over with...this assuming that BJ Penn wants a shot at the lightweight title. Patrick Cote is looking to work his way back into contention while undefeated (in the UFC) Grove is working toward the exact same goal. I expect this fight to be a close match. Friday, June 22. 2007

UFC 73 Predictions Here are ultimate-fighter.net's official predictions for UFC 73 "Stacked"Chris Lytle vs Drew Fickett Lytle looked fairly impressive in the Ultimate Fighter Finale loosing a close decision to current UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra. Meanwhile, Drew Fickett holds wins over mega contender Josh Koscheck and Josh Neer. Fickett has also fought and lost to Josh Burkman, but has beated Kenny Florian. This is a tough one to pick, but given Lytle's fights with Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, I'm going to give the edge to Chris Lytle. UFC 73 Prediction : Chris Lytle Big Nog vs Heath Herring Minotauro Nogueira vs Heath Herring is Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's UFC debut fight, but it should be Heath Herring who is nervous. Big Nog already holds a win over Herring as well as wins over Mirko Cro Cop, Josh Barnett and Ricco Rodriguez. His match against the monsterous Bobb Sapp is legendary. Minotauro's only weakness is his takedown defense, but that's rarely been a problem since his BJJ is unmatched in the heavyweight ranks. Clearly I'm picking Minotauro to win this fight. UFC 73 Prediction : Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Anderson Silva vs Nate Marquardt Anderson Silva stormed onto the UFC scene with a big KO win over Chris Leben. He followed that up by crushing Rich Franklin and winning the UFC middleweight title. He's sort of defended the title once (sort of because Travis Lutter didn't make weight) and won a submission victory over Lutter, but not before Lutter showed some holes in Silva's game, mainly his take down defense. Now, in Silva's defence, he was injured at the time and Travis Lutter is a real world class BJJ specialist. Nathan Marquardt holds victories over some pretty impressive fighters, including Dean Lister, Crafton Wallace, Joe Doerksen and Ivan Salaverry. The real question is "can he beat Anderson Silva?" All of Nate's top wins have come by submission or decision, which matches up nicely with Anderson Silva who's losses have only come by submission or decision. Now, most of Anderson Silva's wins are by TKO, while Nathan has never been TKO'd. All of this leads me to believe that this will be a great fight. Although many "experts" have been picking Marquardt to win this fight, I have to go with the champ. UFC 73 Prediction : Anderson Silva Tito Ortiz vs Rashad Evans Tito has more experience and better ground and pound than Rashad. The rest I put even. UFC 73 Prediction : Tito Ortiz Sean Sherk vs Hermes Franca My head says that Sean Sherk is too strong and too good a wrestler, but my heart says that Hermes Franca will find a way to win this fight. UFC 73 Prediction : Hermes Franca Monday, June 18. 2007

UFC 72 Opinion
All over the net people were saying that they didn't like the UFC 72 fight card. The lack of big names and a title fight meant that many weren't going to pay the "Pay Per View" price tag. I certainly wanted to see more big names on the card, however the card itself had the potential for some entertaining fights. Well, from and entertainment standpoint UFC 72 was a complete success.
We found out several things at UFC 72. Lets start off with Clay Guida vs Tyson Griffin. I thought this was the fight of the night (or afternoon if you're in the same time zone as I am). Tyson Griffin dominated the first 7 1/2 minutes and Guida dominated the last 7 1/2. It was a back and forth fight, but if there was another round tacked on, Guida would have taken it based on his superior cardio. Both fighters impressed me and I want to see both fight again. Highlights included a Clay Guida leg lock that had me turning my back on the TV (Griffin was slightly less squeamish as he hammered looping punches to Guida's ribs while Guida tried to bend his knee backwards). Another big highlight was a forward slam by Tyson Griffin. Guida was trying to get a rear naked choke on Griffin, but rode a little high and Griffin almost tried a front roll with Guida on his back, resulting in a big jolt to Clay Guida's neck, but not enough to knock him off. In the end, the judges gave it to Griffin, could have gone either way (I had Guida winning...but would not have argued a draw). Rick Franklin dominated the entire fight against Yushin Okami (except for one late submission attempt). Franklin moved forward while Okami backpeddled. Not a very exciting fight, but for sure this one was not Franklin's fault, Okami just did not want to engage (which is standard for Okami). Jason MacDonald was in trouble early against Rory Singer, but rode out the storm and managed to finish Singer in round 2. I wouldn't say that Jason is ready for a title shot again yet, but perhaps another win or two against a big name would put him back in the mix. Ed Herman dominated the action against Scott Smith (again, if you ignore the choke attempt by Smith). Nuff said about this fight. Maybe Herman and MacDonald should do it again and see who the real contender is. UFC 72 had some great fights, but really with Ultimate Fighter Finale and UFC 73 coming up it has some tough competition. Also, Shamrock vs Baroni is happening this Friday (not UFC, but I expect to see Baroni back in the UFC after he KO's Shamrock this week. Monday, June 11. 2007
