Martial Arts Weapons
Why does the law ban things like Nunchaku, Tonfa, and other Martial arts weapons but are fine with guns.?
I understand that they’re considered deadly weapons, but guns are more dangerous because there’s a much higher death rate with those, I find it a little odd… not to mention unreasonable, it makes it difficult for many martial artists to train.
Actually, I think you’re missing the mark slightly. Martial weapons are not “banned” outright, they are illegal to CARRY, with exceptions for lawful purposes (like martial arts classes and one’s own house). Likewise, guns might be legal to buy, but are also illegal to carry around concealed too (without permit) in almost every state, and some places like DC outright forbid ownership of handguns.
Things martial weapons and guns have in common is they are both solely intended as weapons, whereas knives have many normal utilitarian purposes. Hence why most pocket knives are legal to carry around, even if they are more deadly than nunchuku.
